Engalitcheff Arthritis
Outcomes Initiative
The Arthritis Foundation, Maryland Chapter and the Center for Education and Research on Therapeutics at the University of Alabama, Birmingham (funded by the federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality), have begun an exciting new partnership to advance the knowledge of drug treatment issues in arthritis. The goal of the Engalitcheff Arthritis Outcomes Initiative is to improve the quality of life and health care outcomes of people with arthritis by fostering research to increase understanding about the efficacy and safety of new biologic agents.
The $3 million collaboration will fund five grants over a four-year period, with further funds being leveraged to enhance the project. The initial request for proposals was released in April 2002. Proposals will be nationally peer-reviewed, and the awards will be made in early Fall.
