What Is It?

Tendinitis (ten-DIN-eye-tis) involves inflammation of a tendon, the fibrous cord that attaches muscle to bone. It usually affects only one part of the body at a time, and usually lasts a short time, unless involved tissues are continuously irritated..

What Causes It?

It can result from an injury, activity or exercise that repeats the same movement.

Treatment Options

  • Exercise
  • Heat/cold
  • Medications: glucocorticoids, NSAIDs
  • Rest
  • Surgery

Who Is At Risk?

It usually affects people over 30, but can occur in younger people active in sports or who do repetitive work.
